About Brian Ntare

Brian Ntare Nganzi is an accomplished Information Systems Officer and DHIS2 Implementer with over 10 years of experience in Information Technology and digital health systems. He currently works with the Health Information Systems Program (HISP) Uganda, the lead implementer of DHIS2 in Eastern Africa, supporting national digital health initiatives for Health, M&E, Research, and Education, including disease surveillance, health management information systems, and electronic case-based reporting.

Brian has a strong background in system design, configuration, customization, and rollout of DHIS2-based platforms, including the eIDSR disease surveillance system, ANC e-Registry, TBL-eCBSS for TB, AMR/AMU surveillance trackers, Mental Health Capture. He has played a key role in developing and implementing nationwide digital health systems and facilitating capacity-building through national and regional training programs, including DHIS2 Academies in Ethiopia, Zanzibar and Uganda.

He has trained hundreds of users across Uganda and the region, including CHWs like VHTs, health workers in health facilities like clinicians, district health team members like DHOs, DSFPs, HMISFP, biostatisticians, and program managers, with a strong focus on robust metadata design, program indicators, Android/Tracker Capture workflows, and data quality assurance. Brian brings a practical, implementation-driven approach to his trainings, guiding participants through end-to-end Tracker design and hands-on use of DHIS2 Tracker Capture, translating real implementation lessons into practical skills that participants can apply immediately.

He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, a Postgraduate Diploma in Business Administration, and is currently pursuing a Master of Public Health at Uganda Christian University.

Brian is passionate about improving health data use through sustainable digital interventions and enjoys sharing his knowledge and experience with health professionals and systems implementers to strengthen national health information systems.
